  • My first monograph, Contemporary Irish Women’s Short Fiction: Neoliberalism, Desire, Affect, is now under contract with Liverpool University Press. More info here.

Conferences

I am co-organising a conference titled ‘Bad Feelings: Sadness and Gender in Contemporary Culture’ with Dr Fionnula Simpson. The conference will take place at the Museum of Literature Ireland (MoLI) and UCD from 8-9 June 2026. You can find the CfP below.

Fellowships and Grants

Visiting Research Fellowship, CRASSH

I will be a Visiting Research Fellow at CRASSH (Centre for Research in the Arts, Social Sciences, and Humanities) and Wolfson College at the University of Cambridge for Michaelmas Term 2025. Here is my ‘meet the fellows’ interview.

While at Cambridge, I will be convening a fortnightly reading group on the works of Lauren Berlant (info here) and giving two talks: a Research Practice Seminar at CRASSH, and a talk for Wolfson College’s Humanities Society.

Visiting Fellowship, ‘The Global Sentimentality Project’

I was a visiting fellow on the DFG-funded “The Global Sentimentality Project” at  Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg over the Summer of 2025

Government of Ireland Postdoctoral Fellowship, Research Ireland/Taighde Éireann

I received a Government of Ireland Postdoctoral Fellowship from Research Ireland (formerly the Irish Research Council) which will fund my next research project, and for the duration of which (2024-2026) I will be based in UCD.

Government of Ireland Postgraduate Scholarship, Irish Research Council (IRC)

I was awarded a Government of Ireland Postgraduate Scholarship from the Irish Research Council, which funded my PhD from 2020-2023. During this time, I held an Early Career Research Fellowship at Trinity Long Room Hub Arts & Humanities Research Institute (TCD). The first year of my PhD was funded by a ‘1252’ Postgraduate Research Bursary awarded by Trinity College Dublin School of English. 

Prizes

  • My essay on politics, capitalist realism and Irish fiction won the 2024 British Association for Contemporary Literary Studies (BACLS) PGR Essay Prize
  • I was 1 of 3 shortlisted candidates for Contemporary Women’s Writing PGR Essay Prize 2024
  • I served as the TCD delegate to the League of European Research Universities (LERU) annual summer school in 2022 
  • As an undergraduate, I won the 2018 Edward Millington Stephens Essay Prize, which is awarded by Trinity College Dublin School of English for an essay on Anglo-Irish literature
  • I received a High Commendation in The Undergraduate Awards, 2018
  • I undertook Trinity College Dublin Foundation Scholarship (“Schols”) examinations in 2016 and was 1of 3 TSM (Two-Subject Moderatorship) students (and 1 of 50 students across all disciplines) to be awarded a scholarship, which funded my degree and provided accommodation and commons for five years
  • I entered Trinity College Dublin in 2014 with an Entrance Exhibition from the Dean of Undergraduate Studies for outstanding school leaving results
